I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the latest iteration of Star Fox, a game that has been a staple in my gaming library for decades. As a long-time fan, I was eager to see how the remake would fare, especially with the addition of a multiplayer mode that promises to be a game-changer. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

In the multiplayer mode, up to eight players can engage in intense 4v4 dogfights across a handful of maps. Each map has a unique objective, adding a layer of strategy and competition. Sector Y, for instance, is a thrilling take on a classic single-player level, where players must navigate through the sky and capture the flag while battling AI-controlled enemy ships. The addition of portals and Mario Kart-style weapon pickups makes for some truly chaotic and memorable moments.
What makes the multiplayer mode particularly fascinating is the emphasis on teamwork and strategy. Players must coordinate their efforts to complete objectives and outmaneuver their opponents. The dynamic nature of the battles, with players constantly moving and adapting, creates a sense of urgency and excitement that is hard to replicate in other games.
However, there are a few concerns that arise. The rotation of maps, while not extensive, may limit the longevity of the multiplayer mode. Additionally, the voice acting and dialogue have been rewritten, which, while not a deal-breaker, does disrupt the flow of the original game. Nevertheless, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise excellent experience.
In my opinion, Star Fox on Switch 2 is a must-play for fans of the series and multiplayer enthusiasts alike. The multiplayer mode, in particular, offers a fresh and engaging experience that will keep players entertained for weeks to come.
